LocAle is short for Local Ale. CAMRA LocAle is a new initiative that promotes pubs stocking locally brewed real ale. The scheme builds on a growing consumer demand for quality local produce and an increased awareness of 'green' issues.
You might see pubs displaying a LocAle logo on beers th at are brewed locally (though just because there's no logo it doesn't mean that the beer definately isn't local). The definition of how many miles a beer can travel from brewer to pub and still be called local is set by the branch. We use 35 road miles as the limit. Almost all the beer at our Winter beer festival is locally sourced from our local brewers.
