Real Ale Runabouts
Real Ale Runabouts were a programme of visits to our 'Hidden Gems' - those rural public houses that are difficult to reach by public transport - run for Colchester CAMRA.

Runabouts generally took place on the second Thursday of each month with Sunday Runabouts included during the Summer. They used community minibuses for transport.
107 Runabouts took place between May 2011 to March 2020.
CycAle
So what happens on our cycle tours? Quite handy if you have a serviceable bike, anything from a mountain bike to a high spec racing bike or just a trusty old bicycle will do the job.
In addition to the rides listed look out for some Summer evening rides during the lighter evenings.
About Us
Welcome to the Colchester and North East Essex Branch of CAMRA - the Campaign For Real Ale.
Our aim is quite simple....to promote, preserve and, most importantly, drink real ales!!
This is achieved by visiting the pubs themselves, to encourage Landlords to promote real ale or for us to give support to those that already do.

Pubs
Real Ale is no good without somewhere to drink it, so support your pubs. We have over 140 pubs in our branch area. Browse details of them on camra.org.uk. Look out for copies of the Colchester and North East Essex Real Ale Pub Guide in pubs around the branch. Don't forget to add a beer score when you visit!
Pub of the Year - 2026 Results
Potty about POTY? What sounds like a receptacle for the results of a good night out on the beer is actually CAMRA-speak for our annual Pub of the Year awards.
Every year, all CAMRA branches nominate and vote for the favourite pubs in their area. The winners then go on to the county, regional and finally, national awards. Even at a local level, the award is highly regarded.
Voting is now closed.
Voting closes at midnight on Saturday 3rd February.
PoTY Voting Procedure

Each member can cast 1 vote for up to 5 pubs, ranked in order of preference. These votes, in conjunction with beer score data, will be used to decide the winning pub.
