John from The White Horse at Edwardstone fills in the details....
Our Winter Beer Festival at the White Horse has Strong Ales, Winter ales and Barley Wines and great ales (example – Robinsons – Old Tom & Mill Green’s- Mad Old John & Green Jack’s - Ripper & Burton Bridge- Thomas Sykes). For those who are not familiar with the pub it is situated on a single track road in Edwardstone (SW Suffolk) it is a traditional country boozer in all respects and is surrounded with woods, open countryside with footpaths running directly from the door. Historically the pub & the microbrewery behind it would have been run on coppice wood from the surrounding woods, now we heat the pub using only coppice wood and the brewery uses it for heating the wort.
For anybody wanting to stay there is a camp site (for hardy souls at this time of year) and two Scandinavian type wooden cottages.
Food wise we focus on local & seasonal produce (some of which we grow ourselves) Over this festival the focus will be on Game and locally grown vegetables, this hopefully will include some dishes suitable for vegetarians.
There will be exceptionally good music on ( James Sakal- Pub Piano on the 15th, Folk Session on the 16th ) but we also are keen to encourage any Folk musicians who feel like coming along and enjoying the great selection of seasonal beers and maybe playing a bit of music, to make contact with us.
So come and have a walk and sit by the wood burner and have a drink or a drink with some food or some drink and some music or maybe some drink then a walk then some food and some music, then some more drink then some more food and a walk.
