CycAle October 2013: Nigel's Navigation

Saturday, October 5, 2013 - 9:30am

Following on from Robin's excellent and eventful tour of London I now have outline plans of the October route.

The idea will be to meet at 9.00am to take the 9.23 train to Diss. We will immediately cross the border into Suffolk and meander our way to Stowmarket from where we will catch the train back to Colchester.

The route is all on road and will take in up to seven pubs, some of which we have visited on previous rides. Parts of the ride will take us into Greene King country and it is likely that a couple of pubs will only have their beers. If you have an extreme aversion to Greene King (as I know some people do) then this ride is probably not for you.

There are options to return from Stowmarket at 17.29, 17.59 and 18.29 depending on whether we visit one or two pubs in Stowmarket. It is also likely we will be travelling on 4 for 2 tickets so your return might depend on when others wish to depart. Unless you are leaving on the 17.29 train lights will be required for your journey home from Colchester station. Using the 4 for 2 option the cost of train tickets will be a minimum of around £10.

There will be a lunch stop. I just need to check out the pudding and custard situation for Robin, but in case we need to book please could you let me know if you intend to partake in some pub grub.

Anyone interested? Please let Robin know using the address below.

Cheers
